I know we said the due date for the Annotated bibliography will be the Friday the 24th, but let's push that back until Thursday October 30th. I think you will need the additional time. Below is the description of your final media paper. As always, please let me know if you ANY questions.
Final Paper - Assignment Description
Your final paper will deal with a media topic of your interest. It will be an original analysis or critique of media and you will apply a theory or concept from the book. You will need to complete two addition steps along the way to completing your final paper. Below is a description of each step. Remember that you need to follow the APA guidelines for formatting. Use times new roman 12 point font, 1 inch margins, and double spacing. Be sure to include the correct in-text citations and a reference page. I attached a detailed grading rubric HERE .
Part I - Annotated Bibliography - Now due 10/30
An annotated bibliography will consists of a reference list of 10 sources that relate to your topic and short descriptions of each source. You will need to create a list of references and include a description of what each source is about and how you may use that source in your paper. For examples of annotated bibliographies please see this WEBSITE or search for examples on the internet. You need to use a specific ratio of sources: 1 book, 5 newspaper articles and 4 websites. The sources you choose for your annotated bibliography may not necessarily end up in your final paper. The purpose of the annotated bibliography is to help you explore your topic and get a grounding in the available research. Your sources should deal with the media you have chosen and the theory or concept about group communication you pulled from the book (this does not mean use the textbook as a source, it means find more sources that addresses the information in the textbook). Be sure to include a short paragraph or long sentence at the top of the page which explains what your paper will be about/what the bibliography is geared toward.
Part II - Outline - Due 11/18
A detailed "sentence outline" that includes: a full abstract (a short description of your paper), descriptions of each section, and include short quotations or short summations of sources you intend to use in each section along with the APA citation for each source.
